MEMBER BENEFITS
The Seminole Bromeliad and Tropical Plant Society is a
circle of the Sanford Garden Club. Therefore, when you join our society, you
automatically become a member of the Sanford Garden Club and the Florida
Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC).
Your FFGC membership entitles you to receive “The
Florida Gardener” magazine, quarterly, which features calendars of
gardening events throughout the state, news from various FFGC Districts in
Florida, and rules and schedules for entering your own plants in garden
shows.
In addition, when you join our society, you automatically
become a member of the Florida Council of Bromeliad Societies (FCBS). The
FCBS maintains a wealth of bromeliad information at their web site www.FCBS.org,
including
thousands of photos of all the genera of
bromeliads, culture information, member services, affiliated societies,
databases of bromeliad species and hybrids, a cultivar registry that
provides information on parentage and hybridizers, and much more. The FCBS
also produces a quarterly newsletter that is mailed to all members.
Our Seminole Bromeliad & Tropical Plant Society holds
two plant sales each year that are open to the public. These are 2-day
weekend events that provide an opportunity to expand your collection at very
reasonable prices, and/or sell excess plants while keeping the majority of
the profits for yourself.
Some of our programs will provide expert speakers on
plant-related topics, and additional opportunities to acquire or sell plants
from your personal collection.
The SBTPS also maintains a library of important and rare
books on bromeliads and tropical plants. Members may check out books during
meetings held at the Garden Club.
In the fall, each member will receive the Sanford Garden
Club Yearbook containing membership information and programs, for the new
year, for all the Club’s circles.
MEETING INFORMATION
Our society meets the third Sunday of the month, 2PM at
the Sanford Garden Club, unless we have scheduled a special event or field
trip. The Sanford Garden Club is located at 17-92 & Fairmont Drive, one
block south of Lake Mary Boulevard, Sanford.
DUES
Dues: $15/ year individual membership; and $20/year for a dual/couple
